1 (1.6-ounce) bottle whole cloves

4 oranges

1 gallon apple cider

3 cinnamon sticks

11/2 cups light rum

4 cups red burgundy jug wine

Stick cloves in oranges in some kind of pattern, or simply stick them tightly into the rind. You can do this one night when you're watching television.

Two hours before serving, place oranges on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees 2 hours.

Meanwhile, pour 2 cups cider into small pan and add cinnamon sticks. Bring to boil, uncovered. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Pour remaining cider into very big pan that you can serve from and place it over low heat.

Pour boiled cinnamon-cider into big pan. Pour in rum and wine. Keep it warm. Drop hot oranges into wine. They should sizzle, and they'll continue to add flavor as the wine mulls on low heat. Set out cups and ladle wine out or let guests serve themselves. Makes 12 servings.
